Capitalization activities

Beyond CALYPSO intends to capitalize on what has been achieved in deliverables 4.3 of the CALYPSO SOUTH project. Specifically, Beyond CALYPSO intends to capitalize on three deliverables (D 4.3.1, D 4.3.2 and D 4.3.3) focused on responding to and mitigating impacts resulting from oil spills.

In Beyond CALYPSO, there will therefore be an expansion of the calculation and observation domains with the consequent involvement of stakeholders from a larger westMED area (Italy, Malta and Tunisia - capitalization mode 1 - ready to use). 

This will be achieved thanks to the optimization of modeling chains for oil spill tracking. The expansion of the domains was designed for the reuse of the technologies developed in CALYPSO SOUTH for the benefit of new stakeholders and takers to cover a westMED area which includes territories outside the Italy-Malta program. 

This is also achieved thanks to the inclusion of further data from remote observation such as the use of SAR images and CMEMS-COPERNICUS products (geostrophic and model currents) which will allow both the reuse of tracking models and the transfer of experience gained in CALYPSO SOUTH outside the Italy-Malta Program area. The involvement of new stakeholders and takers from the westMED area will be direct, as they will be invited to actively participate in all the training actions organized in Beyond CALYPSO. The partnership, therefore, will carry out ad hoc dissemination actions to create a pool of stakeholders and takers who can benefit from the project outputs.
